Annual Barbecue 2025

SOLD OUT

Sunday 10th  August, 1pm

Our annual barbecue is returning to Blackheath House riverside (Map reference TM420579 or what3words: relies.pictures.unroll) . It is a great occasion to catch up with fellow members. This year, by kind invitation of Lady Hopkins, we will be on the grassy slopes of the foreshore, overlooking the river below Blackheath House with fantastic views to the south of the river, Iken and Yarn Hill.

Access by car:

On the A1094 at the junction with the B1069 road from Leiston, turn off (left if you are coming from Aldeburgh, right if from Snape) on the metalled road immediately opposite the B1069, beside the gatehouse. Follow the road and parking will be near Blackheath House, with a short walk down the garden to the barbecue place. The road and pathway will be signposted.

Access by river:

For those coming by river,  high tide is about 14.50 so  you should be able to come alongside the Blackheath jetty from about 13.00 as the jetty can be accessed 2 hours either side of high tide.  After about 13.30  boats can also be drawn up on the shore.

Please bring your own chairs or rugs.  Dogs are welcome but please keep them on a lead.

A small cash bar will be available but you are welcome to bring your own.

There will be a hog roast plus salads and a dessert.

To reduce paperwork, physical tickets will not be issued.

Please note: Due to the charges incurred to process a refund we regret that we are unable to issue refunds on this occasion
